Major Biomedical Engineering
Biosketch Kaylin Koen is a rising senior at Georgia Tech studying biomedical engineering. Her educational background includes renal cell carcinoma research at the Cleveland Clinic, as well as developing a prototype for a miniature peptide synthesizer at NJIT. She has experience in MatLab and C programming, as well as Fusion360. She has recently completed a project where she built and programmed a robotic hand to be able to respond to stimuli using computer vision. She studies biomedical engineering because she is interested in making medical devices in the future, and wants to get her masters before going into industry. She is interested in the process and mechanics of transcranial magnetic stimulation and how neuromodulation can help to treat certain conditions. She is excited that this REU will give her the opportunity to explore computational modeling in such topics, as well as give her more insight into the regulatory work that the FDA does in the process, which is very relevant to her future goals because it ensures her designs meet the rigorous standards required for clinical integration.

In her free time, she likes to draw and animate as an officer in the Animation Club at Georgia Tech, do karaoke with her friends, and play video games.
